WHITE POCKET

Swimming in Sandstone

White Pocket, hidden deep in the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument on the Arizona-Utah border, is one of the most visually stunning and remote sandstone formations in the Southwest. Its many layers of white, orange, and red rock create swirling patterns that look like a frozen sea of stone.

A few years ago, images of White Pocket used in Apple’s wallpaper designs first sparked my obsession with this place. The desire to photograph it myself soon motivated me to buy a Jeep so I could reach this isolated spot. This has quickly become a favorite place to frequent whenever I'm in northern Arizona.

This gallery features a mix of sunrise and sunset photographs that capture the dramatic light playing across the colorful, weather-sculpted rock formations. I hope you enjoy seeing this remote corner of the desert through my lens.
